Documentation at Babur & Associates

“Where Vision Meets Structure, and Design Serves Purpose.”

Once an architectural project is completed, comprehensive project documentation becomes a vital part of the project lifecycle. This phase, often referred to as post-completion or close-out documentation, serves multiple critical functions. It not only records the final built conditions but also ensures that all stakeholders—clients, facility managers, and future design teams—have a clear understanding of the building and its systems. Proper documentation at this stage reinforces accountability, supports building maintenance, and serves as a valuable reference for any future renovations or expansions.

The primary component of post-completion documentation is the “as-built” drawings. These are detailed plans that reflect the actual construction of the building, including any modifications made during the building process. Changes often occur due to site conditions, contractor suggestions, or client requests, and the as-built drawings capture these alterations accurately. Typically provided in digital formats like PDFs or CAD files, these documents are essential for anyone involved in the ongoing operation of the building. Photographic documentation is another important aspect. High-quality images of the completed building, both interior and exterior, provide a visual record that complements the technical drawings and reports. These images are useful not only for historical records but also for marketing, publications, and portfolio use.

In summary, architectural project documentation after project completion is a critical and multi-faceted process. It provides a detailed and accurate record of what was built, guides future building operations, and serves as a learning tool for future architectural work. Investing time and care into this documentation ensures the long-term success and usability of the built environment.

Key Components of Our Project Documentation

Architectural Drawings
These are the heart of any project’s documentation. We produce highly detailed architectural drawings, including:

Documentation

For initial and ongoing client communication, we prepare conceptual design reports, 3D visualizations, and presentation boards. These documents help clients understand the spatial experience, material palette, and overall design intent of their project.

We prepare detailed material and construction specifications that guide the contractor on how the building is to be constructed. Our documentation also includes itemized BOQs developed in coordination with quantity surveyors, ensuring clients have a clear understanding of cost expectations.

  1. Babur and Associates provides all required documentation for planning approvals, building permits, and regulatory compliance. This includes:
    • Authority submission drawings
    • Code compliance checklists
    • Energy and sustainability reports
    • Accessibility and fire safety reviews

Once the design is finalized, we prepare construction-ready documentation, coordinated with structural, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing), and landscape consultants. These are the drawings used on-site by contractors and include:

    • Detailed plans and sections
    • Construction detailing
    • Coordination layouts
    • Site logistics and sequencing plans

At project completion, we provide final as-built drawings that reflect all changes made during construction. These serve as essential records for the client’s facility management and future renovation needs.
